My Mission

Death is a sacred transition—one that deserves to be met with presence, dignity, and care.

Rooted in my passion for holistic living and my deep desire to serve others, becoming a death doula allows myself to support individuals and families through one of life’s most vulnerable moments. I’m here to advocate for your wishes, hold space for your beliefs, and offer grounded, compassionate support every step of the way.

We only get one chance to make death a meaningful experience. I believe I was chosen to walk this path to provide the highest of quality care to those at the end of their journey and to help make the experience peaceful, intentional, and deeply human.

More specifically, a death doula’s mission often includes:

  1. Advocating for the dying person’s wishes – ensuring they are heard and respected.

  2. Providing emotional and spiritual support – helping reduce fear, anxiety, or loneliness.

  3. Educating and guiding families – about what to expect in the dying process and how to support their loved one.

  4. Creating sacred or meaningful space – through rituals, memory work, or legacy projects.

  5. Assisting with end-of-life planning – such as advance directives or vigil planning.

  6. Supporting the transition – by being present at the time of death if requested.

Hi, I’m Monica—a death doula, nature lover, and someone who finds deep meaning in the quiet, tender moments of life.

I grew up in Durham, Ontario, surrounded by the natural world. As a child, I spent my days playing under tall trees and camping with my family, building a strong connection to the land around me. That connection stayed with me through my teenage years and into adulthood, only growing stronger with time.

After experiencing personal loss, I found great comfort and healing in nature. It became a place where I could breathe, reflect, and feel held in my grief. That deep, grounding presence is something I now bring into my work. I incorporate elements of nature into my practice in hopes that others can find the same sense of calm, comfort, and connection during their own journeys.

Movement is also an important part of how I connect with myself and the world around me. I enjoy being active—whether it's hiking through the forest, going for a bike ride, or heading out for a run. These moments help me stay grounded and present, both in my personal life and in my work.
